Former Chargers edge rusher Joey Bosa may have officially played his final down in the NFL. Following a productive 2025 campaign with the Bills, he remains an unsigned free agent. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on The Pat McAfee Show that it is “more likely than not” that Bosa’s football career has come to an end.
Drafted third overall by the Chargers in 2016, Bosa anchored the franchise’s defensive front for nine seasons, accumulating 67 of his 77 career sacks with the organization. He earned Defensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2016 and secured four Pro Bowl selections before his release in 2025 by the Bolts.
Though rumors swirled about pairing up with his brother Nick Bosa in San Francisco, the market has stalled. Hit by persistent injuries that derailed his peak years, Bosa may ultimately decide that taking care of his body takes priority as he pushes past his 30s.
