The 2025-26 Central Section high school sports season is underway.

April 29
Softball
Tulare Union 17, Lemoore 7: Faith Jimenez launched two home runs, and Jaksyn Freitas also added a round-tripper in the West Yosemite League victory.
The Tribe (11-12, 5-1) enforced the 10-run mercy rule in the fifth inning, erupting for nine runs, and now sit alone in first place in the WYL standings ahead of Dinuba (17-6-1, 4-2).
Jimenez had five RBIs on three hits and also scored a pair of runs. Kayloni Cox went 2-for-2, including a double, with four RBIs and a run. Aliyah Cardenas had a pair of doubles, scored twice and knocked in another run. Freitas finished 2-for-4 with three runs and an RBI. Jiannah Freitas had an RBI double.
Jiannah Freitas also picked up the win in the circle, throwing a strikeout in 2 1/3 innings. Ava Hernandez led the team with five strikeouts.
Baseball
Tulare Western 9, Mission Oak 8: Grant Crawford and Matthew Corral both registered three RBIs to help the Mustangs (16-6-1, 10-1) outlast the Hawks in a WYL game.
Crawford finished 2-for-4 with a double. Corral also added two runs and a pair of RBIs.
Corral pitched a complete game, too, hurling five strikeouts while allowing seven hits.
Tulare Western is currently in first place in the WYL standings.
For Mission Oak (8-13, 4-6), Eddie Bravo, Ben Romans and Garrett Savage each had two RBIs.

Track and field
Redwood sweeps 2026 Don Kavadas Tulare County Championships: The Rangers won both the boys and girls team titles at this season’s Don Kavadas Tulare County Championships at Monarch Stadium in Exeter.
The Redwood boys placed first with 188.5 points, followed by Tulare Union (107) and Central Valley Christian (89.5) in the 10-team field. The Rangers received individual first-place performances from Troy Harris (200 meters), Jairus Brooks (400 meters), Wyatt Ruby (110-meter hurdles), Luke Sanchez (300-meter hurdles), Abram Feldstein (shot put) and Austin Alcantara (triple jump).
The Rangers girls won the team championship, scoring 194.5 points. Tulare Western was second (96.5) and Monache third (95.5). Redwood had individual gold-medal finishes from Tori Ochoa (100 meters), Graycie Serpa (200 and 400 meters), Blake Duncan (800 meters), Camila Esquivias (100-meter hurdles), Mia LoBue (pole vault) and Brynne Amundson (long jump, triple jump).

Baseball
Mission Oak 12, Dinuba 3: Eddie Bravo blasted a double and triple and finished with five RBIs to lead the Hawks to a WYL win.
Also for Mission Oak, Ben Romans and Braylen Vera each had two RBIs. Romans earned the victory on the bump, throwing six strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.
