No team finished more of its offensive possessions with a touchdown in 2025 than the Los Angeles Rams. According to a drive-outcome breakdown from @NutshellSportz using nflfastR data, the Rams topped the entire NFL in touchdown rate per drive — not just points, but the share of possessions that actually ended in the end zone.
That finishing ability lines up with the raw numbers. Los Angeles scored 65 total touchdowns, tied for the most in the league, and averaged an NFL-best 2.80 points per drive. The Rams also got aggressive when drives stalled, converting 66.7% of fourth-down attempts to keep possessions alive rather than settle for less.
Volume backed up the efficiency. Los Angeles ran 1,113 offensive plays and averaged 6.1 plays per drive, both top-10 marks, while leading the NFL with 76 trips into the red zone. Once there, the Rams turned 63.2% of those chances into touchdowns — strong, if not the league’s single best red-zone rate, suggesting the offense’s touchdown dominance came as much from reaching scoring territory constantly as from perfection once it arrived.
The one wrinkle: third-down conversions lagged. Los Angeles converted just 39.6% of third downs, 25th in the league. However, they also tied for the second-fewest third-down attempts with 192, likely because L.A. didn’t need third down to move the chains. Their kicking game was similarly middling, connecting on just 78.6% of field goals. However, they attempted the 27th-most field goals and, as the scoring numbers indicate, usually turned their drives into touchdowns rather than field goals anyway.
This is perhaps the clearest example of Sean McVay’s dominance in the NFL. Touchdowns win games, and the Rams proved in 2025 that they scored at one of the highest rates in the league. While it didn’t translate to a Super Bowl win, the Rams hope they can continue this trend in 2026 and push themselves further into the NFL calendar.
