Oxnard man arrested after Camarillo area vehicle chase, search

An Oxnard man was arrested after a vehicle pursuit that started in Camarillo, foot chase and search for him on March 28, according to authorities.

A 20-year-old male driver from Oxnard allegedly failed to comply to a traffic stop by patrol officers at Pleasant Valley Road and Airport Way in Camarillo around 7:20 a.m. and that led to a short vehicle pursuit, said Sgt. Thomas Miller from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office provides police services for the city of Camarillo.

After two minutes, the driver drove into a ditch and a foot chase and an area search ensued that involved a police dog, drone and additional deputies, Miller said.

After an hour, the man was found in a nearby orchard and arrested for offenses including felony evading an officer and several misdemeanors, according to Miller and jail records.

He was booked into Ventura County jail with a bail set at $50,000 and awaits a Ventura County Superior Court hearing of April 1, jail records show.
