The Golden State Warriors have 10 free agents this summer, including forward Draymond Green, who has a $27.6 million player option for next season. While Green could easily pick up the option to remain with Golden State next year, there has been speculation surrounding a possible opt-out. If Green were to opt out, it’d allow him to sign a multi-year extension with the franchise instead.
NBA writer Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report believes this could be the case, predicting that Green will opt out of the one-year contract to receive more guaranteed money over multiple seasons. Hughes also notes that depending on how much Green trims his salary, the Warriors could have enough financial flexibility to use their full mid-level exception in free agency. Green has until June 29 to make an official decision.
