A man was carjacked at gunpoint by a passenger while driving through Victorville on Wednesday afternoon, law enforcement officials said.

The victim was acquainted with one of the men, who was riding as a front passenger, but did not know the second, agency spokeswoman Socorro Cuevas said.

The rear passenger pulled a gun and ordered the victim to drive to a nearby desert area, “where they he hit him with the gun and the victim exited the vehicle,” she said.

The two suspects then fled in the car, which was found about 7 a.m. Thursday, June 4, abandoned about five miles away from the original carjacking scene in the 11600 block of Barrington Street, officials said.

No further details, including detailed suspect descriptions, were available as the investigation continued.
