If Matthew Stafford and Myles Garrett suit up for just one game together this season, they will be the first-ever teammates to play a game as the reigning MVP and reigning Defensive Player of the Year. Stars representing both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, they may only interact on the sidelines, but their impact will make or break the team’s championship ambitions.
During his opening presser, Garrett spoke about Stafford, stating that the MVP and his prolific production factored into the decision to waive his no-trade clause, paving the way for the Rams and the Cleveland Browns to finalize the deal.
“That did play into the decision as well,” stated Garrett on playing for a team with an offense that can deliver leads to the defense. “Knowing I have the ability late-game to pin my ears back, not just because we need a play to be made, but because we have the lead and it’s an obvious passing down. Being able to make those game-changing plays, to win the game for us, those are the things that appeal to me.”
Garrett set the NFL single-season sack record on a team that struggled to establish a lead last season. If the Rams’ offense is as prolific in 2026 as it was in 2025, Garrett will have more than enough opportunities to break his own record.
