The San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters said more than 66,000 ballots remain unprocessed following the June 2 primary election in an initial report released Thursday night.
The report shows a cumulative total of 74,248 processed ballots, including ballots tabulated on election night.
Election officials reported that 60,041 vote-by-mail ballots were received on or before Election Day and 4,708 were received after Election Day.
An additional 93 ballots were cast at voting locations, including those submitted during early voting and on Election Day, the report said.
The registrar of voters also reported 200 ballots forwarded from other counties, 57 provisional ballots and 543 conditional voter registration provisional ballots. Another 750 ballots were categorized as “other,” including damaged ballots, ballots requiring duplication or further review.
In total, the report lists an estimated 66,392 unprocessed ballots remaining.
Separately, the registrar of voters reported that 1,300 ballots remain in “cure” status due to non-matching signatures on ballot return envelopes or unsigned identification envelopes, meaning voters must resolve the issues before their ballots are counted.
The registrar of voters is expected to release the next wave of primary election results by 7 p.m. Friday. Updated results are available on the San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters website.
