The city of Adelanto has announced major updates coming to Marconi Park.
Long beloved as a place for movies in the park, football scrimmages and soccer practice, Marconi Park is getting a TLC makeover. City officials released a request for proposal on Feb. 25, announcing plans to renovate the park in phases.
Phase 1 of the broader plan to update the 4.2-acre Marconi Park will include the installation of artificial turf, updated striping to the field, upgrades to walkways and resurfacing the parking lot.
“Our goal is to accelerate park rehabilitation in a way that supports our active youth while also reducing water usage at the site,” City Manager Jessie Flores said at the Feb. 25 council meeting held at the interim Adelanto Stadium chambers.
While updates are underway, the city will be designing future phases of the park which will include additional football, soccer and other recreational fields.
Marconi Park on Verbena Road, one of Adelanto’s four parks, currently boasts a sports field, basketball court, playground and picnic area.
