When Burlington will open new Southern Tier Crossing Plaza location

Burlington is expected to open its new Southern Tier Crossing Plaza store in mid-May at the former Joann Fabrics location.

The popular off-price retailer, which has been a tenant of the Arnot Mall for nearly 20 years, announced plans to move to the County Route 64 location in Horseheads in late 2025.

“I’m excited the new Burlington store will open sometime in mid-May,” said Horseheads Town Supervisor Donald J. Fischer. “It’s such a good location, next to Ulta Beauty, Five Below and so many other popular stores, across from Kohls and Dicks Sporting Goods and near Walmart, the ALDI grocery store and so many restaurants.”

Fischer said he thinks the new Burlington location will be even better than the current Arnot Mall site.

The new Burlington location will feature all new items, Fischer said. Items currently on the shelves at the Arnot Mall location will go on sale starting sometime in early April and sales will continue until the new location opens in mid-May.

Burlington employees agreed with Fischer’s comments on the upcoming sale at the current Arnot Mall location and that the new store will feature new items.

Emails were recently sent to customers stating the Arnot Mall location is closing, and the new County Route 64 location will be opening this spring.

Fischer said Burlington’s move to the former Joann Fabrics location will also have a positive effect on the Town of Horseheads tax base. The Horseheads Town code enforcer has been working with Burlington throughout the remodeling and signing of the new site.

Burlington, formerly known as Burlington Coat Factory, is an American national off-price department store retailer, and a division of Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Corporation. It has more than 1,100 stores in 47 states and Puerto Rico, with its corporate headquarters located in Burlington Township, New Jersey.

In 2007, Burlington was acquired by Bain Capital in a transaction and in 2008, Tom Kingsbury became president and CEO.
