The UCLA Bruins hope to be playing in a bowl game to conclude their 2025 season after missing out on the bowl season in 2024 in head coach DeShaun Foster’s first season as the Bruins head coach.
UCLA has played just five bowl games since the start of the 2015 calendar year, going 2-3 in those games, with wins over Kansas State and Boise State, with the Bruins losing to Nebraska, Pitt and again Kansas State.
The Los Angeles Times’ Ben Bolch published a prediction article for the Bruins’ 2025 season, with UCLA returning to a bowl following a 7-5 regular season. Bolch has the Bruins appearing in the Las Vegas Bowl, hosted at Allegiant Stadium, where UCLA will face the Washington State Cougars and leave with a victory.
“Bruins take on an old Pac-12 rival that bears no resemblance to recent predecessors. The Cougars are expected to unleash a relentless rushing attack after hiring coach Jimmy Rogers from South Dakota State and importing tailbacks Angel Johnson and Kirby Vorhees, who combined for more than 1,100 yards on the ground last season at the FCS level under Rogers. This could be UCLA backup quarterback Luke Duncan’s big moment with Iamaleava probably sitting out in preparation for the NFL draft,” Bolch wrote.
UCLA fans couldn’t be too upset with an eight win season, especially when you factor in the brutal Big Ten schedule that the Bruins have ahead of them this season. UCLA reached eight wins in Chip Kelly’s final year as the Bruins’ head coach in 2023 but they accomplished that while playing in the Pac-12 Conference.
