Better Buzz Coffee is preparing to move into three abandoned restaurants in Apple Valley, Hesperia and Victorville.
The company’s website revealed job opportunities at the new coffee shops, which will be located at the shuttered Arby’s on Main Street in Hesperia and on Bear Valley Road near the Home Depot in Victorville.
Better Buzz will also move into the recently shuttered Sonic Drive-In on Bear Valley Road in Apple Valley.
Apple Valley’s Sonic Drive-In
As new businesses spring up near the Sonic Drive-In in Apple Valley, the fast food restaurant has been permanently shuttered.
On Tuesday, employees at the Sonic Drive-In on Bear Valley Road, near the new Raising Cane’s and yet-to-be-opened Hobby Lobby, were busy moving out.
Employees were seen dismantling shelving units and removing items from the store, which were taken to a cargo truck or outside dumpster.
Meanwhile, curious customers drove slowly around the store and found posted signs that read, “Permanently closed please [sic] our Victorville Location,” and “Permanently closed.”
Additionally, the main drive-through menu board and all parking stall speakers and menu boards had been removed.
One ironic scene at the front of the closed Sonic was a round sign that read, “Open,” and a colorful marketing poster that read, “All Good,” as it advertised a variety of frozen lemonade drinks.
“I’m going to miss that old school feeling of ordering at the menu board and having a carhop bring out my food,” said Sheila Smith of Apple Valley. “My husband and I would occasionally drop by Sonic to have dessert.”
Sonic Drive-In restaurants have a 1950s retro-feel as carhops deliver burgers, fries, desserts, snacks and drinks to customers waiting outside in vehicles.
Sonic officials have not revealed the reason why the Apple Valley location closed.
Better Buzz is hiring
Employees at the Sonic did not reveal the fate of the building located near El Pollo Loco in the Apple Valley Towne Center.
However, the Better Buzz Coffee website is announcing job opportunities for its new Apple Valley location.
The company posted, “BETTER BUZZ COFFEE is opening soon in the Apple Valley area! We are excited to create some new BUZZ brand fans in the neighborhood!”
The poster also claimed it was seeking baristas for its “BRAND NEW LOCATION (Apple Valley) which we expect will open June of 2026.”
The company said Better Buzz is expected to open its Hesperia location in July 2026 and its Victorville store in August 2026.
Other online sites mentioning job opportunities at Better Buzz include ZipRecruiter, LinkedIn and Lensa.
