Lakers jersey history No. 43 — Corie Blount

Through the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a total of 506 players suit up for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary.

During the Lakers’ 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years.

Corie Blount, a 6-foot-10, 240-pound big man, came into the NBA in 1993 as a member of the Chicago Bulls after they took him with the No. 25 pick in that year’s draft. After two seasons of decent play off the bench for Chicago, his player rights were sold to the Lakers.

He spent the next three and a half seasons with the Lakers and averaged 3.6 points and four rebounds in 14.6 minutes a game with them. They waived him during the 1999 season, and he went from team to team until his NBA career ended following the 2003-04 season.

Blount wrapped up his career with lifetime averages of 3.6 points and 4.2 rebounds in 15.4 minutes per game.
