Last season was a great forward-moving year for Jayden Maiava at USC. He benefited from having elite NFL talent at receiver, but a lot of credit was earned because of how he facilitated one of the most potent offenses in the country. His success and what he showed were enough to earn some credibility across the landscape of college football.
In a recent article, Logan Brown ranks Jayden Maiava as the third-best quarterback in the Big Ten. Here is what he had to say about Maiava:
“Jayden Maiava has been around the block. There is buzz around the USC offense once again because of Maiava’s leadership under center. It feels warranted given his performances last season and the fact Lincoln Riley has some continuity at the position. This is a make-or-break year for the Trojans and Riley. Maiava lost some of his favorite weapons in the offseason, but the Trojans have recruited well enough to replace the talent. Maiava is in an excellent position to succeed this year and could be a dark horse for the Heisman Trophy.”
Jayden Maiava lost a lot on the offense this offseason, but he is not void of talent this year. He has an elite run game with a two-headed monster returning in the backfield and new, versatile weapons to work with. Who’s to say Tanook Hines is not his new favorite target as well? A freshman last season, he had a great rapport with. Maiava is a top quarterback in the Big Ten at the bare minimum, with some upside to further etch his name as one of the best in the country.
