Former Michigan head coach Dusty May shocked the NBA Monday, agreeing to a deal with the Dallas Mavericks to replace Jason Kidd as their head coach. Following May’s move, NBA insider Brian Windhorst made an interesting connection between the new Dallas coach and the Warriors.
“I think had Steve Kerr not resigned in Golden State, I think Dusty May would have been on the Warriors’ short list,” said Windhorst. It isn’t too far-fetched to believe that Golden State would’ve considered a college coach, as the team was linked to Florida head coach Todd Golden before Kerr’s new contract became official. Although Kerr may not have many years left coaching, it was certainly worth it for the Warriors to bring back the four-time champion coach.
