After months of waiting, the new Five Below, near the unopened Hobby Lobby and Marshall’s in Apple Valley, has announced an opening date.
Outside the Five Below, a posted sign read, “We’re not open yet, Coming Soon!” with a grand opening date of Friday, June 19, 2026.
On Friday, workers continued to prepare the Five Below for opening day at the business sandwiched between Hobby Lobby and Marshall’s at the Apple Valley Towne Center.
A peek inside the Five Below store, located behind El Pollo Loco on Bear Valley Road, revealed shelving units, check-out counters, illuminated signs, lighting and other items.
Meanwhile, curious residents continued to drive by the three stores to see if they were open.
“It’s nice to see Five Below opening, but do you know when Hobby Lobby will open?” Hesperia resident Maria Hernandez asked the Daily Press as she walked back to her car.
Hobby Lobby and Marshall’s have not announced open dates.

The Daily Press recently reported that Hobby Lobby had received items and posted a “coming soon” banner.
Several semi-trucks were also seen off-loading shipping containers with items, including shopping carts, to the new Hobby Lobby. Earlier this month, Hobby Lobby management and staff were seen inside the store.
One unidentified employee outside Hobby Lobby told the Daily Press, “We’ve been training, working, getting ready to open.”
On the east end of the building, lights continue to illuminate the Marshall’s unit, which remains empty.
Construction of the retail building and property near Bear Valley Road and Westmont Drive was completed earlier this year, with each store mostly sitting empty until April, when Southern California Edison arrived and completed work.
Town of Apple Valley spokesperson Sarah Krieg told the Daily Press in April that the retail center was currently awaiting final utility connections to bring power to the site.
Krieg added that once power is established, the tenants can proceed with opening.
The stores were originally expected to open in early 2026, according to town officials.
