Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans have their first commitment in the 2028 recruiting cycle, and it is a major one. Four-star wide receiver Roye Oliver III committed to them on Friday
Oliver is from Chandler, Arizona, and had over two dozen scholarship offers from programs across the country. The Trojans have been recruiting him for over a year, offering him a scholarship in January of 2025 and hosting him on several visits since then, including one earlier this month.
He is ranked as the No. 43 overall player and No. 9 wide receiver in the 247Sports composite. He is also the No. 2 player from Arizona.
Oliver has had an extremely productive start to his career at Hamilton High School, being named a MaxPreps Freshman All-American after catching 43 passes for 861 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was on another level as a sophomore and was named the MaxPreps Sophomore of the Year and the Gatorade Player of the Year in Arizona after recording 92 receptions for 1,839 yards and 29 touchdowns.
USC has recruited the wide receiver position extremely well under Riley, and Oliver is just the latest elite wideout they have landed. They signed four blue-chip wide receivers in the 2026 cycle, including two of the top 10 wideouts in the country in Kayden Dixon-Wyatt and Eathan Feaster. Their 2027 recruiting class already features Quentin Hale and Eli Woodard, two more blue-chip receivers.
