CHP asks public's help after fatal crash off Highway 36 at Platina

A man driving near the Tehama-Shasta counties line died Wednesday night in what the California Highway Patrol called a possible off-road vehicle crash.

The man was driving at the R Wild Horse Ranch on Highway 36 before 10:45 p.m. on June 24, the Tehama CHP office reported.

The ranch is south of the highway and east of the unincorporated agricultural community of Platina in Shasta County.

The CHP said only the driver was in the vehicle.

Tehama law enforcement agencies including the coroner’s office are investigating the crash and cause of death, according to the CHP report, which didn’t include the man’s name or town of residence.

Calls to the Tehama County Coroner’s Office regarding the man’s identity were not returned Thursday afternoon.

The CHP asked that anyone with information about the crash call 530-737-6746.
