Brandon Aiyuk telegraphs desired destination via Instagram

Despite being dubbed “untradeable,” current San Francisco 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk isn’t keeping his thoughts to himself when it comes to his next team. Aiyuk is almost assuredly going to be traded or released at some point in the future, and while the list of potential teams is long, the man himself made his intention known on Instagram.

The San Francisco Chronicle’s David Lombardi noticed that Aiyuk is only following three people on Instagram now: his wife, the Washington Commanders, and quarterback Jayden Daniels.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise. The Commanders have long been rumored to be suitors of Aiyuk because of general manager Adam Peters’ connection from his time with the 49ers front office and because Aiyuk and Daniels played with each other at Arizona State.

However, the Commanders appear unwilling to do a trade for Aiyuk, given the lack of leverage the 49ers have and because of Aiyuk’s contract. So, it sounds as though the only way Aiyuk makes his way to another team is if the 49ers release him, something they also don’t sound like they’re in a rush to do yet.

For what it’s worth, Daniels himself said that Aiyuk’s future was something he did not know. Not that he could speak much on the trade negotiations, either, even if he did know.

At the very least, Aiyuk has now made it abundantly clear as to which team he wants to play for next. Who knows when that will be, though.
