Arrests made, firearms seized in High Desert and Inland Empire

A recent and ongoing targeted crime suppression program by police resulted in a number of arrests and the seizure of firearms in the High Desert and Inland Empire.

Photos of seized items appear to be from World War II, including some branded with Nazi symbols. One item included a photo of what appears to be the late Nazi-Germany dictator Adolf Hitler.

The Operation Consequences sweep, beginning July 6, took place at various locations in Adelanto, Apple Valley, Barstow, Hesperia, Highland, Morongo Basin, Fontana, San Bernardino, and Colton, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Over the one-week operation, authorities served 15 search warrants, contacted suspects and made 11 felony arrests, authorities stated. Investigators contacted gang members and people prohibited from possessing firearms. The result was 29 firearms seized, including seven ghost guns, sheriff’s officials said.

Those involved in the operation included investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department – Gangs/Narcotics Division, along with deputies from patrol stations and personnel from partnering agencies.

Also involved were the San Bernardino Movement Against Street Hoodlums and the Street Enforcement Team, which conducted proactive patrols in San Bernardino and the surrounding area.

Operation Consequences will continue to focus on conducting targeted crime suppression operations in the High Desert and the sheriff’s jurisdiction surrounding the city of San Bernardino.

Operation Consequences will take place to curb violent crime, disrupt and dismantle targeted criminal street gangs, and locate and arrest criminals who are illegally possessing, manufacturing and trafficking firearms, sheriff’s officials stated.
