San Bernardino County Animal Care has announced that animal shelter services for unincorporated areas of the High Desert have moved to the Devore Animal Shelter.
All animals, including lost and found pets, can be taken to the shelter at 19777 Shelter Way, near Interstate 215 in San Bernardino.
Residents in unincorporated areas in need of dog licensing can apply online at animalcare.sbcounty.gov or in person at the Jerry Lewis High Desert Government Center, 15900 Smoke Tree St., Ste. 131 in Hesperia, or at the Hesperia Health Center, 16453 Bear Valley Road.
Residents who have lost or found a pet are encouraged to report it at PetcoLoveLost.org, verify their service area online, search the county’s lost pet database, visit the Devore Animal Shelter, or call Animal Care field services at 800-472-5609.
Information is also available about the Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return program for community cats.
Residents can support the program by adopting, fostering, volunteering, donating, and spaying or neutering their pets.
For more information, please call 909-386-9820 or visit them online at animalcare.sbcounty.gov.
The announcement came after the Town of Apple Valley rejected the sale of its shelter to the county, the Daily Press reported. The Town Council’s vote meant rejecting the purchase and sale agreement with the county. It also directed town staff to take action to end the service agreement with the county.
