Crews with the Ventura City Fire Department were dispatched to Ocean Avenue, between Anacapa and Catalina streets, around 9:35 a.m. after receiving reports of the fire and found the truck’s enclosure engulfed in flames, according to a department news release.

Firefighters worked quickly to cool the natural gas tanks and control the fire as it posed a risk of reaching the truck’s natural gas fuel system, fire officials said.

The truck was escorted to the Gold Coast Recycling facility, where crews finished extinguishing the blaze.

In all, about 13 fire personnel put out the fire and cleared the incident by 10:40 a.m., officials said.

No injuries were reported, and the cause was determined to be an accident.
