Two Ventura men and a youth were arrested after police say they robbed and carjacked a man on March 25.
A Ventura man reportedly parked his car near his home in the 700 block of Riverside Street around 2:30 a.m. when he was approached by several suspects, according to a Ventura Police Department news release.
One of the suspects allegedly held the man while another took his property, police officials said. The suspects demanded the man’s keys, forced him into his nearby vehicle and drove away with him.
The man was able to call police after the alleged carjackers released him, uninjured, a short distance away, officials said.
Patrol officers found the vehicle hours later, occupied by three people, the police department said.
Police arrested two 20-year-olds and a minor, all Ventura residents, on suspicion of several felonies, including carjacking, robbery and kidnapping, police officials said.
The three are also suspected of being part of a criminal street gang, said police Sgt. Fabian Gutierrez.
The two 20-year-olds were booked into Ventura County jail with bail set at $100,000. They are scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior court on March 27. The youth was booked into the Ventura County Juvenile Justice Center.
