It’s time to vote for the Detroit Free Press Buffalo Wild Wings Boys Prep Athlete of the Week.
This week’s poll features three players – one player each from baseball, lacrosse and track and field – who had standout performances during the week of April 12-18.
Voting will close at noon on Friday, April 24.
Here are the nominees (listed in alphabetical order by last name):
Danny Hampton, Howell, baseball
Hampton played in four of Howell’s five games last week against Canton, Garden City and Grand Blanc. The senior shortstop had a .452 batting average on 19 hits including nine singles, five doubles, three triples and two home runs for the week.
Maddox Marlatt, Brighton, lacrosse
Marlatt led Brighton in scoring during the team’s 17-5, victory over Canton on Wednesday, April 15. The sophomore had five goals and five assists in the game.
Micah Walker, Warren De La Salle, track and field
The senior runner took first place in both the 100m and 200m events during the 33rd Warrior Classic at Woodhaven High School on Saturday, April 18. Walker completed the 100m with a time of 11.19 and the 200m at 22.58 (the third best record in event history). He also participated in the 4×200 event, in which De La Salle finish second.
