Senior Survivor Week is launching soon at Howell High School.
The festivities begin during the HHS Senior Survivor Carnival, running 6-9 p.m. April 24 at the Field House, 1200 W. Grand River Ave. The event’s admission is $15 for children 3-18 and free for all others. Students in eighth grade or below must be accompanied by an adult.
The carnival will include games, entertainment, arts and crafts, raffles, inflatables and more — according to a news release. All proceeds will benefit Senior Survivor Week, which begins April 26.
At that time, 15 members of the HHS Class of 2026 will arrive at the school to compete for the ultimate survivor title. They’ll fundraise during school hours and compete in immunity and reward challenges. At the end of each school day, the two students who “play” the least amount of money will be eliminated.
The student who “plays” the most money on the final day of the competition will be named the winner.
This year’s competition will support the Livingston County Animal Shelter. The money will fund critical facility improvements and expanded services, including additional kennel space, specialized care areas and enhanced medical and outreach resources — according to the release.
The participants include:
Each survivor is paired with a fifth-grade junior survivor, an eighth-grade middle school survivor and a staff survivor. The annual event has raised nearly $1.6 million over the past 18 years for nonprofit organizations.
