This week’s poll features four volleyball players who helped their teams advance in the MHSAA volleyball playoffs during the week of Nov. 9-15.

Voting will be open until noon on Friday, Nov. 21.

Here are the nominees (listed in alphabetical order by last name):

Daneris Gomez, Allen Park Inter-City Baptist

Inter-City won its first regional title in four years after defeating Ann Arbor Christian and Southfield Christian last week. Gomez dominated for the Chargers with 23 kills and six blocks along with a .450 hitting percentage.

Waverly Hagen, Ubly

The No. 3 team in Divison 4 advanced to the state quarterfinals after sweeping Genesee Christian and Chesterfield Austin Catholic in the regionals. Hagen had 33 kills, nine digs, two blocks and one ace across both games.

Elise Hiemstra, Birmingham Detroit Country Day

Country Day won the battle of Division 2’s top teams as it eliminated North Branch from the playoffs on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets also swept Marysville on Tuesday in the regional semifinals. Hiemstra, a senior outside hitter and Miss Volleyball finalist, led the way with 36 kills, 22 serve receptions, 15 digs and six aces for the week.

Cree Hollier, Farmington Hills Mercy

Mercy has yet to drop a set in its pursuit of another state championship. The team defeated Orchard Lake St. Mary’s and South Lyon to advance to the state quarterfinals for the first time since 2023 – the same year they won the Division 1 championship. Hollier contributed to the Marlins’ victories with 20 kills, 13 digs, and two blocks.
