It’s time to vote for the Detroit Free Press Buffalo Wild Wings Boys Prep Athlete of the Week.
This week’s poll features four football players whose performances led their teams to a victory in the regional finals of the MHSAA football playoffs during the week of Nov. 9-15.
Voting will be open until noon on Friday, Nov. 21.
Here are the nominees (listed in alphabetical order by last name):
Evan Bergdoll, Allen Park Cabrini
The junior quarterback’s performance helped Cabrini capture its first regional title by defeating Madison Heights, 34-32, on Friday, Nov. 14. Bergdoll went 14-for-25 passing for 279 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed five times and had two rushing touchdowns.
Jack Janda, Novi Detroit Catholic Central
Janda was a disruptor for the Shamrocks as he and the defensive line led the team to a 42-13 victory over the Clarkston Wolves on Friday. The senior defensive tackle had eight tackles (four for loss), four sacks and one pass breakup.
Cole Novara, Dexter
Novara had 230 receiving yards and four TDs on 11 catches as Dexter gave Gibraltar Carlson its only loss, as the Dreadnaughts defeated the Mauraders, 56-42, on Friday.
Jacob Stewart, Almont
Stewart impacted both sides of the ball during Almont’s 44-8 victory over Detroit Edison on Friday. On offense, the senior running back rushed for 156 yards and three touchdowns on eight carries. On defense, he had four tackles as an outside linebacker, all for a loss.
