Spring cleanup started this week in Cheboygan, with the city’s Street Department offering free pick-up service for yard raking, brush and small tree limbs.
The pick-up service runs from May 4-15. After May 15, no debris will be allowed to be placed on street edges. Eligible debris must be placed out for pick-up before 7 a.m. and it must be placed at the edge of the street.
No garbage, household trash, appliances, metal or items that are too heavy for one person to lift will be accepted. Grass or leaves in plastic bags will also not be picked up.
City officials asked residents to separate leaves, brush and small tree limbs into separate piles, as this helps with the pick-up process. If items are not separated, pick-up is not guaranteed.
