The newest player on the Detroit Pistons roster is in Detroit today, Thursday, June 25.

Ebuka Okorie, a 19-year-old, 6-foot-2 (in shoes) guard from Stanford, was the Pistons’ first-round draft pick on Tuesday night, and now he comes to the city he will call home.

Okorie scored 23.2 points per game (tied for sixth in the nation) in his lone college season (31 games), while shooting 46.5% from the field, 35.4% from 3 on 5.7 tries a game and 83.2% on 7.3 free-throw attempts per game. He dished 3.6 assists for the Cardinal (20-13), which finished ninth in the ACC and missed the NCAA Tournament.

Okorie will be sitting beside Trajan Langdon, the Pistons’ third-year president of basketball operations, as they answer questions from the media. (Langdon now turns his sole focus to free agency and the trade market; the NBA’s free agency negotiation window opens next Tuesday, June 30, at 6 p.m. ET.)

The press conference comes the day after the Pistons traded franchise-staple Isaiah Stewart to the Memphis Grizzlies for three second-round picks in an apparent cost-cutting move, setting up expectations for another big move to follow.
