Three recruits Michigan State football is awaiting decisions from

The month of June is coming to close, with official visit season ending and a dead period approaching, recruiting classes are settling in. For Michigan State, they have secured 15 commitments thus far and are eyeing to grow that number.

The Spartans were able to hit on a lot of their official visitors, which has led to a nearly full class, but with the number not quite yet at 20, there is still room to grow.

While obviously, there won’t be any more official visits until the fall, there are still some key recruitments to monitor, with some key decisions looming for the Spartans and their class.

Here are three recruits that are eyeing decisions that are coming soon:

4-star OT Corey Laga

Laga is seemingly down to two schools: Michigan State and Oklahoma. A Lemont (IL) native, Laga is a 4-star on On3, with the 6-foot-5 offensive lineman being a highly coveted prospect.

This is about as close to a 50-50 race as their could be, with intel shifting between the Spartans and Sooners, and who is really leading on any given day. A decision was supposed to have already been made, but the fact that it hasn’t, shows how close this race really is.

Be on the lookout for Laga to make his final decision very soon.

4-star TE Anthony Cartwright

A Spartan legacy, the 6-foot-5 Detroit Country Day tight end product has announced a commitment date and his finalists. Ranking as a 4-star and the No. 408 overall player, as well as the No. 8 player in the state of Michigan, he will decide between Michigan State, Michigan, LSU, Miami (FL) and Oregon.

A week or two ago, it appeared that Oregon may have taken the lead in this recruitment, but recent momentum has shown the Spartans putting up a real fight and his ties to the university could be a real influence for Michigan State down the stretch.

While MSU is probably still playing catch up, they will have one last push before a June 28 decision date.

3-star DT Amari Vickerson

Another Michigan State legacy, the Spartans hosted the 6-foot-3, 300 pound defensive tackle on a secret official visit this past weekend. A Cy Ranch (TX) native, he is currently committed to SMU.

Vickerson’s family ties to the Spartans, to go along with an amazing official visit in East Lansing, have Michigan State in a very favorable position to potentially complete the flip. The Spartans will have to beat out an aggressive flip attempt from Texas, and SMU’s efforts to keep him in their class, but MSU is putting their best foot forward.

Obviously, there is no decision day for Vickerson, but if a flip was imminent, that decision could come down soon.
