Monroe schools offer free summer meals for kids starting June 25

Monroe Public Schools and Sodexo Food Services are partnering with Meet Up & Eat Up, the state of Michigan’s federal summer food service program.

According to a Monroe Public Schools’ Facebook post on June 24, free 7-day meal bags will be available from 10 a.m. to noon beginning Thursday, June 25 at Raisinville Elementary School, 2300 N. Raisinville Road.

The program provides free, nutritious breakfast and lunch to children and teens (18 and younger) during the summer and long school breaks when free school meals are unavailable.

Parents and guardian can pick up breakfast and lunch meals for multiple days. No enrollment is required and the meals are free and available to all households.

Pickup dates are Thursdays — June 25, July 2, July 9, July 16, July 23, July 30 and Aug. 6. Meals are distributed on a first come first serve basis and cars must be in line by noon to receive service.

When picking up meal bundles, drivers should approach Raisinville Elementary School on North Raisinville Road from Stewart Road to enter and exit the lot by turning right toward Blue Bush Road.

Guests are asked to pop car trunks and/or unlock car doors to make the loading process quicker.

Volunteers are welcome. Call Sodexo Food Services at 734-265-3120 for more information.
