The sheriff department said Leist and Smith were acquaintances and there was no indication they were in a dating relationship.

Smith, 17, and Leist, 33, both of Temperance, were found dead in a residence in the 1600 block of West Sterns Road.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Smith’s family. Those who wish to donate can do so online.
