The votes are in, and the Super Bowl 60 MVP is Michigan State football alumnus Kenneth Walker III.
The running back gained 135 yards on 27 carries in the Seattle Seahawks’ 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots on Sunday, Feb. 8, in Santa Clara, California.
Although Walker didn’t reach the end zone, his big runs allowed the Seahawks to drive into field goal position four times over the first three quarters for a 12-0 lead before the offenses each woke up. Walker had 96 yards on the ground in the first half.
Then, in the fourth quarter, he ground down the Patriots defense as the Seahawks fended off a late rally.
Walker is the second Michigan State alumnus to win Super Bowl MVP. The other? Quarterback Nick Foles, who spent one season (2007) with the Spartans, completing five of eight passes for 57 yards before transferring to Arizona. Foles won MVP with Philadelphia during the Eagles’ victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 52 in 2018.
