Grosse Ile Twp. police seek public's help in sex assault investigation

Grosse Ile Township police are asking the public’s help as they investigate a report of sexual assault of a minor over the weekend.

“This assault was alleged to have occurred during the evening of Friday, March 20, 2026, at a residence on Grosse Ile,” Police Chief Todd Brozek said in a statement posted to the department’s social media page on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 25. “At this time, we can confirm that suspects have been identified, however, as of the time of this release, no arrests have been made and the incident remains under active investigation.”

Police did not identify the suspects in the case.

Asked by the Free Press about sexual assault allegations involving high school students, School Superintendent Audrie Kalisz said: “Grosse Ile Township Schools is aware of allegations made against students. However, the district cannot comment on student information, including discipline records, pursuant to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.”

In a message to the school community, Kalisz said the school district is limited in what it knows and can share about the allegations.

“The matter under investigation is not reported to have occurred on school grounds or in connection with a school-sponsored activity,” Kalisz wrote. “While the district is not able to comment on the specifics of this matter and has limited jurisdiction because the alleged action did not take place on school grounds, we want to assure you that we take all concerns involving student welfare seriously and respond in accordance with Board of Education policy, our Student Code of Conduct, and all applicable laws.”

Kalisz said such allegations can be “deeply concerning” to the community and she encouraged parents to talk to their kids and reach out to school counselors or others if they need additional help.

Brozek said police would release additional details at the appropriate time.

“Given the sensitive nature of this case, we’re not going to release additional details at this time,” Brozek said. “Our priority is to conduct a thorough, objective investigation while protecting the integrity of the process of those involved.”

The statement urged anyone with information about, or evidence related to the case, to contact Grosse Ile Township police at: 734-676-7100.
