As part of the Buc-ee’s national expansion, the travel center recently opened its first Arizona location this week — perhaps leaving Michigan fans to wonder when they will get theirs.
The grand opening for Arizona’s first Buc-ee’s — located in Goodyear just outside of Phoenix — took place on June 22.
Buc-ee’s was founded in 1982 in Texas, and has since gained a loyal following for its mall-like size, selection of food and clean bathrooms. The company announced a national expansion into new states with opening dates in 2026, 2027, 2028 and as far out as 2031.
The Midwest was included in the expansion, however, the company still has no plans to open a location in Michigan.
In April 2026, Ohio celebrated its first Buc-ee’s location, located in Huber Heights which is a suburb of Dayton, about 265 miles from mid-Michigan.
A second Buc-ee’s location is planned to open in Ohio in 2027 in Mansfield.
Two locations are expected to open in Indiana in 2028, and one in Wisconsin slated for April 2027.
