Civil service test for NPPD

NEW PHILADELPHIA − New Philadelphia will offer a civil service exam for those interested in becoming a police officer with the New Philadelphia Police Department. It will administered at 6 p.m. Sept. 3, at Park Place Center at Tuscora Park. It is proctored by Ryan-Ramsey HS Solutions of Strasburg.

Applicants must be 21 years old and applications must be submitted to the mayor’s office at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 21. Those who pass will take a physical agility test at a later date. Dover’s new Municipal Center opening

DOVER – The city’s new Municipal Center will open July 10, at 321 N. Wooster Ave. A ribbon cutting and tours begin at 10 a.m. The center will house the mayor’s office, city council chambers and safety forces. It is the first change of the city’s administration building in more than120 years.

Loan aids Gemini Realty Holdings’ expansion

COLUMBUS − Regional 166 Direct Loan Program has awarded Gemini Realty Holdings, LLC $892,416 to support construction of a 12,000-square-foot manufacturing expansion at 1826 Tech Park Drive NE in New Philadelphia. The company was established to own and lease the facility to Gemini Industrial Machine Group LLC, a custom machine builder, precision sheet metal fabricator and processor of specialty alloys. The nearly $1.2 million project will enhance the company’s manufacturing capabilities while creating five new full-time jobs and retaining 16 existing positions.

Direct loans via the state aim to promote economic development, job creation, and job retention by providing low-interest loans to businesses with limited access to adequate capital from private funding sources.

Rodeo and bullfighting

BEACH CITY – Triple Threat Rodeo Productions will present Extreme Bulls, Barrels and Freestyle Bullfighting from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. July 24 at 10367 Northvale Ave. SW Gates open at 5 p.m. Kids’ mutton busting will start at 6:30 p.m. Parking is free. Food vendors will be on site. Limited bleacher seating is available; lawn chairs are welcome. Tickets are available at eventbrite.com or at the gate.

Treasure Trove vendors sought

NEWCOMERSTOWN − Vendors are sought for the Aug. 22 Treasure Trove sponsored by the Newcomerstown Historical Society. Setup time will be 8 to 9 a.m. with the event running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vendors will be in the main area of Olde Main Street Museum and outside. For more information, call 740-498-7735. The deadline to register is Aug. 8.

Free summer concert

DOVER – Summer Sounds at Ernest Warther Museum and Gardens will be from 7 to 8 p.m. July 30, at the gazebo. Bring your own lawn chair and snacks.

Jigsaw puzzle competition, teen event

DOVER – Dover Public Library will host its first jigsaw puzzle competition at 2 p.m. July 25. There is space for six teams. A team can consist of one or two people. Each team will attempt to complete the same 500-piece puzzle within two hours. The top two teams will receive prizes.

A teen lock-in for grades six through 12 is planned for 6 to 11 p.m. July 31. It will include food, games, and crafts. Registration is limited to 20 teens, and parental permission is required. For more information, call 330-343-6123.

Additionally, a flag drop box has been installed in the community room, courtesy of American Legion Post 205. Residents can drop off worn American flags during regular business hours.

Veterinary office hosts cookout

NEWCOMERSTOWN – Bliss Veterinary Services will have a 15-year anniversary community appreciation cookout to celebrate with clients from 2 to 4 p.m. July 25.

Comedian to perform

SUGARCREEK – Comedian Jeff Allen will perform at 1 and 7 p.m. July 25, at the Ohio Star Theater at Dutch Valley. Tickets are $55 to $76. For more information and tickets, visit dhgroup.com/events.

Sidewalk sales

NEW PHILADELPHIA – The New Philadelphia Sidewalk Sales will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 25, downtown. It will include more than 120 artisans, food trucks, and live entertainment. The sales are anchored by Alley Cats Marketplace and Fresh the Market. The Music in the Air event continues the celebration at the Delaware parking lot from 2 to 10 p.m., with bands and local vendors.

Rodney Wilson recognized for his service

COLUMBUS – Rodney Wilson of New Philadelphia has been named a Fellow of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), one of the organization’s highest honors recognizing outstanding service to the engineering profession, the society, and the community. Wilson has been active in engineering leadership at both the state and national levels. He is a former president of NSPE-Ohio, former chair of the Professional Engineers in Government division, and recent Ohio delegate to the NSPE House of Delegates.

In addition, Wilson received the Engineers Foundation of Ohio’s 2026 President’s Award for his long-standing dedication and financial support of the foundation. He previously served as EFO president in 2021.

Antiques and Artisan Show

ZOAR – Historic Zoar Village’s Antiques and Artisan Show will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 25 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 26. It includes more than 60 dealers, artisans, and folk artists throughout the village showcasing Americana, country, primitives, stoneware, furniture, metalwork designs and watercolor painting.

There will be live demonstrations of 19th-century techniques for weaving, spinning, blacksmithing, butter churning, and kraut making. The cost to tour the Antique Show, artisan tent, historic museum buildings, and all other activities is $14 for those age 13 and older. For more information, visit historiczoarvillage.com.

Meetings

● The Tuscarawas County investment advisory committee will meet at 11:30 a.m. July 20, at the county office building.

● The Tuscarawas County Board of Elections has canceled its July 27 meeting. The next regular meeting is 8:30 a.m. Aug. 10.
