Ohio is under a heat advisory that could break records this week.
So if you and the kids are feeling cooped up and want to get out of the house to cool down, check out one of Ohio’s many water parks.
Here’s a look at what’s available across the state.
Cedar Point Shores Waterpark
Cedar Point Shores Waterpark covers 18 acres of the Sandusky theme park with slides, fountains and more.
Lakeslide Landing offers kid-friendly fun with small slides, geysers and fountains to play in. And then there’s Point Plummet, which drops thrill seekers in a near free-fall into the tunnel below them and then navigates twists and turns until splashdown in the pool.
Soak City Water Park, Kings Island
Soak City Water Park at Kings Island offers more than 50 activities, including 36 waterslides. For youngsters and families, the waterpark offers Coconut Cove and Lookout Lagoon.
For those looking for a little more adventure, there’s the Tropical Plunge. At seven stories tall, the plunge offers six different waterslide experiences. In three of those, thrill seekers wait for the floor to drop out from under them, sending them on a free-fall through flat loops and S-curves.
Great Wolf Lodge
With two locations in Ohio — in Sandusky and Greater Cincinnati — Great Wolf Lodge is an indoor waterpark set to 84 degrees year-round. The Sandusky park covers 33,000 square feet, while the location near Cincinnati is even bigger, at 50,000 square feet. The waterpark offers activities for everyone, from toddlers to children and teens to an adults-only hot tub area.
Kalahari Resorts & Conventions
Billing itself as the Midwest’s largest indoor waterpark, Kalahari in Sandusky offers 173,000 square feet of attractions. Float down the Lazy River, surf on the wave simulator FlowRider, ride any number of waterslides or just relax at the indoor/outdoor spas.
Zoombezi Bay
Part of the Columbus Zoo family of parks, Zoombezi Bay offers a host of waterslides like the Dolphin Dash, Big Boa Falls and Python Plunge, as well as other attractions like the Wild Tides Wave Pool and Baboon Lagoon.
For adults, the park offers Croctail Creek & the Sandbar, its walk-up or swim-up bar featuring a heated lounge pool with in-water seating.
Castaway Bay near Cedar Point in Sandusky
Cedar Point’s waterpark resort, located about three miles south of the lakeside amusement park, takes on a tropical theme, offering guests 237 rooms and suites and a 38,000-square-foot indoor waterpark. Activities at the park include a 100,000-gallon wave pool, a water coaster, a five-story “sprayground” and Fernando’s Tadpole Pool for the younger visitors.
