Interstate 270 South remains closed near Easton Town Center after a single-vehicle crash in which one person died.
The crash was reported shortly before 10:10 a.m. June 27 on I-270 South at Easton Way.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that a 2019 BMW X3 A3 heading south on I-270 approaching the State Route 161 interchange lost control. The sheriff’s office said the BMW was speeding and slid off the west side of the road, where it hit a wall and concrete sign support.
The BMW then rolled, coming to rest on its side and roof on the berm of I-270, the sheriff’s office said.
The driver of the BMW was rushed to Mount Carmel East hospital but died at 10:41 a.m. No one else was injured in the crash, which remains under investigation.
As of mid-afternoon June 27, authorities had not released the identity of the person who died, pending notification of their family.
