A woman died and a juvenile was hurt after a domestic violence case in Italian Village.
Columbus police responded around 12:30 a.m. June 27 to a home on the 900 block of North 4th Street, where they said they found Tiffany Creech, 45, with multiple injuries. A juvenile inside the home was also hurt.
Creech died at the scene from her injuries, police said. The juvenile was taken to a local hospital where they are recovering.
Police arrested Michael J. Johnson, 41, at the scene. Johnson is charged with murder in Franklin County Municipal Court.
According to police, Johnson and Creech were in a relationship with a history of domestic violence. Investigators believe domestic violence contributed to Creech’s death.
Court records show Johnson pleaded guilty to criminal mischief as part of an August 2022 plea deal to avoid domestic violence charges in a case in which Creech was identified as the victim.
Johnson remains in the Franklin County jail. His first court appearance is scheduled for June 29.
Of the 35 homicides reported in Columbus as of June 27, at least 11, or nearly a third, involved domestic violence, according to Columbus police data.
