PITTSBURGH — The start of the Cincinnati Reds-Pittsburgh Pirates game at PNC Park in Pittsburgh on Saturday was delayed 36 minutes by rain.
The first pitch from Pirates starter Jared Jones came at 4:41 p.m., a ball to Elly De La Cruz.
His fourth pitch was a strike that Sal Stewart deposited over the right-field wall for a quick 1-0 Reds lead.
The Reds won the series opener Friday night, scoring four times in the second inning against Paul Skenes, the NL’s reigning Cy Young winner, and later winning it 6-4 on Noelvi Marte’s eighth-inning pinch home run.
It was just their third victory in 19 games this season against National League Central opponents.
