Florida man charged with felony after hit-and-run car crash

A 44-year-old man was arrested and charged with fleeing or eluding law enforcement after leaving the scene of a car crash in Indian River County.

Deputies first responded to a hit-and-run crash at 10:14 a.m., at the intersection of 66th Avenue and State Road 60, June 21, according to the affidavit.

Upon arrival, officers saw a white Nissan SUV with “heavy rear-end damage traveling northbound on 66th Avenue,” the affidavit stated.

Officers followed the damaged SUV, which veered left from a right-turn lane, onto westbound State Road 60. After failing to stop for the officer’s emergency lights and siren, the SUV continued “driving erratically,” the affidavit stated.

A mile west of the crash, officers followed the white Nissan into a parking lot on 74th Avenue, which the car was unable to exit.

A man later identified as Wilson Lindor of Pompano Beach exited the SUV and stated, “he was scared,” according to the affidavit. He was taken into custody and driven to Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital for medical clearance.

The second driver involved in the initial crash said he was traveling eastbound on State Road 60 in one of the outside lanes, the affidavit stated. The white SUV suddenly cut in front of him, causing the collision.

After the crash, Lindor fled south on 66th Avenue, the second driver said, according to the affidavit.

The driver’s testimony was consistent with a witness account and video evidence, according to the affidavit.

Lindor was arrested June 21 by Indian River County sheriff’s deputies on charges of fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer, and leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage, according to his arrest affidavit.

He remained in the Indian River County Jail on June 23 with a $30,000 bail, according to the jail’s website.
