Known for its baked, not fried, chicken wings, Island Wing Co. has closed its Fleming Island location, less than 15 months after opening.
The restaurant at 1609 County Road 220, which closed in recent weeks, has been removed from the regional chain’s website, and its food service license has not been renewed following its June 1 expiration, according to Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation records.
A reason for the closure was not immediately available. Three other Jacksonville-area Island Wing Co. locations remain open.
The bar and grill, which proudly boasts that it has no fryers in its restaurants, offers its crispy baked wings in a variety of seasonings, ranging from Sweet Hawaiian BBQ to Tiki Fire. The restaurant also features a large menu of flatbreads, salads, tacos, sandwiches and burgers, plus a selection of entrees, including Blackened Mahi Mahi, Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Shrimp and Habanero Bacon Jam Pork Ribeye.
Island Wing opened in March 2025 in the former 7,105-square-foot O’Charley’s spot between Black Rifle Coffee Co. and Chipotle Mexican Grill at the Home Depot-anchored Fleming Plaza.
Where are other Island Wing Co. locations in Jacksonville?
The opening came two months after Island Wing’s third area restaurant opened its doors at Tamaya, at 12689 Beach Blvd. The Destin-based chain made its Northeast Florida debut five years earlier in January 2020 at 4409 Southside Blvd., followed by a second restaurant in June 2022 at 360 Bartram Market Dr. In Saint Johns.
Island Wing’s other restaurants can be found in Destin, Orlando and Tallahassee, and in Daphne and Gulf Shores, Ala.
