FSU QB named to Athlon Sports' list of top transfers

A lot of quarterback moves in the offseason, in addition to Florida State needing one to be their starter, have led Ashton Daniels to be on the Seminoles roster for 2026.

The Seminoles snagged Daniels from the Auburn Tigers, and Athlon Sports recently recognized him as one of the top transfer quarterback prospects for this upcoming season. When describing him, writer Steven Lassan said, “Daniels struggled in a previous stint at Stanford but averaged 321.7 total yards per game in three starts at Auburn last November.”

Daniels, a senior, will have one season at the helm to turn around a quarterback room that has been inconsistent since Jordan Travis’ departure in 2023. He will have to turn around a culture that has seen back-to-back losing seasons.

Outside of Daniels, Iowa Western Community College transfer Malachi Marshall and others like Kevin Sperry and Jaden O’Neal will look to learn under Mike Norvell’s system and set the program up for success in the near future.

FSU opens its 2026 season hosting the New Mexico State Aggies on Aug. 29.
