A Connecticut man died after falling from a balcony during a concert at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night, according to New York City police.
Man dies after fall at Madison Square Garden
The incident occurred shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan.
According to the New York Police Department, officers responded to the venue and found a 51-year-old man unconscious and unresponsive. Police said the man suffered injuries consistent with a fall from an elevated surface.
He was transported to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Incident occurred during Goose concert
The man was attending a concert by the band Goose, according to Madison Square Garden’s event schedule.
In a statement posted to social media, the band said it was “deeply saddened and heartbroken” by the man’s death.
“We extend our deepest sympathy to everyone affected,” the band said. “Thank you to the emergency personnel and venue staff who stepped in with care and support.”
Investigation ongoing
The circumstances surrounding the fall remain under investigation.
Police have not released the man’s identity pending family notification.
