The Miami Dolphins’ 2025 campaign didn’t exactly go the way they wanted, as they finished with a 7-10 record and in third place in the AFC East, which led to wholesale changes across the front office, coaching staff and roster this offseason.
However, there were still a few players on Miami’s roster who had strong individual performances last year, including center Aaron Brewer.
Brewer, in his second year in South Florida, really broke out, starting 16 games in the middle of the offensive line and earning a 87.4 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, which was good for second of 40 qualified players at the position.
The former undrafted free agent was so impressive that he earned a Pro Bowl nod for the first time in his career, and ESPN’s Benjamin Solak recently explained that he believes Brewer’s strong season wasn’t just a blip.
“Brewer’s breakout is quite the story,” Solak wrote. “An undrafted free agent out of Texas State, Brewer fought his way into a starting guard spot with the Titans, and he moved to center one year before he hit free agency. Brewer’s blossoming at center is thanks in large part to his time with McDaniel, a uniquely gifted run game coordinator. There are serious ‘blip’ worries with new offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik, as he might not be able to maximize Brewer the way McDaniel did.
“Still, it’s difficult for a center this springy and balanced to not create splash plays in the running game… There’s enough here in the current staff and construction of the Dolphins’ offense that I trust Brewer’s scheme fit for 2026 and beyond. A big extension certainly indicates the team plans on building around him for the next few years. This is a player trending up, even if he doesn’t make the All-Pro list every year at center moving forward.”
Miami gave Brewer a three-year, $52.5 million extension with $37 million guaranteed this offseason, which will tie him to the team through the 2029 season. Over the next few years, he’ll have a chance to prove that he is one of the best centers that this league has to offer, and if the Dolphins find success on offense, his performance could have a lot to do with that.
