The San Francisco 49ers made several big moves this offseason to improve their roster, including the signings of Mike Evans and Christian Kirk as well as the selection of wide receiver De’Zhaun Stribling in the second round of the 2026 NFL draft.
However, one executive identified the acquisition of Osa Odighizuwa in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys as one of the best moves that any team made over the last few months.
“Good player, perfect scheme fit, good pricing, excellent contract to inherit,” an NFC executive told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Odighizuwa spent five years with the Cowboys, recording 216 tackles, 81 quarterback hits, 17 sacks, two forced fumbles and one pass defensed. He signed a four-year, $80 million extension with Dallas last year, so the 49ers have him around for another three years and $57.75 million.
With the 49ers adding a few young interior defensive linemen over the last couple years, Odighizuwa can be the reliable veteran to help bring them along while still performing well in his own right.
