On Monday night, the USC baseball team defeated Texas A&M 7-1 in the decisive game of the College Station Regional. With the victory, the Trojans advanced to the super regionals for the first time since 2005.
The Trojans will now travel across the country to face North Carolina in the Chapel Hill Super Regional. On Tuesday, the NCAA revealed the dates and start times for the super regional, which will be a best-of-three series between the Trojans and the Tar Heels.
Game 1 is set for Friday at 12:00 p.m. Pacific time/3:00 p.m. Eastern time. The game will be televised on ESPN2. Game 2 will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Pacific/2:00 p.m. Eastern on ESPN.
If necessary, the two teams will play a decisive Game 3 on Sunday. The details regarding that game would be announced at a later date.
After playing five games in four days in College Station, USC will very much enjoy having three days off prior to the start of the super regional. The time off should allow the Trojans’ pitching, which had to cover 45 innings during the regional, some much-needed rest. In particular, ace Mason Edwards, who pitched for the Trojans on Saturday against Lamar, should be good to go for Friday’s Game 1.
