El Pasoans can join the rest of the country in celebrating America’s 250th anniversary this summer.
City leaders, in partnership with Destination El Paso and Fort Bliss, are planning a variety of events, including concerts, children’s activities, a golf tournament, and patriotic celebrations.
Most of the events will be in the summer, from June through the July 4 weekend.
Here’s a guide to America 250 events in El Paso.
Chris Young
Country music platinum superstar Chris Young will headline the Pop Goes the Fort concert from 5 to 10 p.m. June 27 at Biggs Field.
The country artist gained fame after winning the reality show, “Nashville Star” in 2006 and has since released several successful albums including “The Man I Want to Be” and “Famous Friends.”
The free concert will include performances by the 1st Armored Division Band, El Paso’s hip hop artist Krystall Poppin, chart-topping pop rock bandHot Chelle Rae.
Attendees can bring canopies (designated area only; space is limited), picnic baskets and coolers, blankets and lawn chairs.
Patriotic Craft Series
Armijo Library, 620 E. 7th St., will host a weeklong series from 2 to 5 p.m., June 27-July 3, in honor of the America 250 celebration.
The weeklong series of patriotic crafts will include salt-painted fireworks, ribbon flags, liberty wands, tic-tac-toe rock painting, Statue of Liberty silhouettes, and a liberty rock garden activity.
Rod & Gun Club
Celebrate America’s 250th Birthday with the Rod & Gun Club, 3730 Roy Johnson Lane, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 28.
Show up in your boldest red, white, and blue outfit or rock your military uniform to take advantage of a $2.50 daily range pass.
El Pasoans also are invited to snap a pic and share your patriotic spirit with #America250 on social media and you might see your face on the club’s recap post and score wristbands to be part of the Army tent during the big downtown El Paso celebration happening on the 4th of July.

Fourth of July friendship bracelets
The Jose Cisneros Library, 1300 Hawkins Blvd., will have a Fourth of July friendship bracelet-making activity at 11 a.m. June 29 as part of America 250 events.
Chamizal Express Library to offer 4th of July program
The Chamizal Express Library, 2119 Cypress Ave., will offer a 4th of July program from June 29 through July 3.
The Colonial Craft Workshop activities will include patriotic slime, cardboard state crafts, bedazzled ornaments, pom-pom flags, and parade wand creations.
July 4 celebration
The America 250 festivities in El Paso will culminate with a free Independence Day celebration Downtown from 5 to 10 p.m. July 4 at San Jacinto Plaza. The celebration will be headlined by the Randy Rogers Band.
Fresh from competing on American Idol, El Paso talented singer Julian Kalel will join the lineup.
Celebrate America’s 250 at Underwood Golf Course
El Pasoans are invited to wear their boldest red, white, and blue outfit or military uniform for a day of golf, camaraderie, and great food from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 4 at Underwood Golf Course, 3200 Coe Ave.
The game will be a 3-person team 2-best-ball golf tournament designed for players of all skill levels. After the round, stick around for a festive food celebration featuring classic American favorites, like grilled specialties, hearty sides, and sweet treats that capture the spirit of the occasion.
Cost will be $60 per person and includes green fees, cart fees, prizes and lunch. Register for America’s 250th Birthday Golf Tournament NLT by 5 p.m. July 2. Sign up at the Course’s Pro Shop or by calling 915-568-1059.
