Nearly 99,000 vehicles impacted by Honda recall. See models

Honda is recalling thousands of vehicles over faulty passenger airbags.

Nearly 99,000 vehicles, including Honda and Acura, are part of the May 21 recall due to air bags that “deploy unintentionally during a crash,” which increase the risk of injury, according to a notice on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website.

Honda said in the recall report that a capacitor inside the printed circuit board of the front passenger seat weight sensor may crack after exposure to humidity, potentially leading to an internal short circuit, reported USA TODAY. In the event of a crash, the front passenger frontal and knee airbags could deploy despite the presence of an infant in a child seat, a child or a smaller passenger for whom deployment should be suppressed, increasing the risk of injury.

What to do if your vehicle is recalled

Dealers will replace the seat weight sensors, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 6, 2026.
