Texas A&M is headed to the College Station Final on Sunday after thrashing Texas State 17-2 on Saturday night, thanks to an impressive 20 hits, including two home runs, while junior RHP Weston Moss’s memorable night on the mound, which included a career high ten strikeouts, while allowing just five hits and a walk in 7.1 innings.
This performance is even more important now, knowing that star sophomore LHP Aiden Sims is officially out for the remainder of the year and will require surgery this offseason before making his way back to the lineup next fall. Facing even more adversity, second-year coach Michael Earley will need to rely on his offense to get the job done, especially his top three hitters.
On Saturday, Gavin Grahovac, whose second solo home run in the regional helped galvanize A&M’s offense, accounted for four of the Aggies’ 17 runs, while Caden Sorrell and Chris Hacopian each recorded three hits, as all three star juniors are likely headed to the MLB next season.
Paired with junior LHP Shane Sdao, MLB Pipeline’s latest 2026 MLB Draft projections, Chris Hacopian comes in at No. 10, while Caden Sorrell (No. 29) and Gavin Grahovac (No. 32) will continue to rise, especially if the Aggies make it back to the College World Series, which is only possible if all three starters continue to produce at the plate.
Shane Sdao’s struggles this season have been surprising, but given his lengthy injury history, a potential return for a final season is a good idea, even though he is currently No. 95 on the big board. With Aiden Sims officially out for the remainder of the year, Sdao must match Weston Moss’s elevated play to give the Aggie bullpen enough room to work with.
